Spare Car Keys
Why the spare is the cheap key
Making a key from a working one is simple work. We copy what already exists, pair it to your car and you are done.
Starting with nothing is a different job. We read the lock or the computer to find the key information, work through the car's security routine and build a key from scratch. That takes longer and it usually happens at an awkward hour, somewhere inconvenient, with you standing next to a car you needed twenty minutes ago.
Same car, same key, very different day.
People who really should have two
Anyone who bought a used car that came with a single key
Families where two people share one car
Drivers whose only key is old, worn or already temperamental
Anyone running a bakkie or van that the business depends on
Parents handing a car to a new driver
People who park in public lots and beaches where keys go missing
We come to your house or your office
The car has to be there, and nothing else does. We park next to yours at home, at work or in a complex parking bay, cut the blade and pair the key in one visit. Most people carry on with what they were doing while we work.
Every kind of key, not only the simple ones
We make spares for plain metal keys, chip keys, remote head keys, flip keys and push start proximity keys. The electronics differ but the idea stays the same, which is a second key that does everything the first one does. For proximity keys, the process is explained in more depth under smart key setup.
A spare is also a security check
While we are making it, we can show you how many keys your car currently trusts. That matters on a used car, since you have no way of knowing what the previous owner kept. We can clear the old ones out so only the keys in your hand will start it.
What to do with the spare once you have it
Keep it somewhere that is not your handbag, your other pocket or the same hook by the door. A drawer at home, a partner's keyring or a safe place at work all work better. A spare that lives next to the original goes missing at the same moment the original does.

FAQS
Is a spare car key cheaper than an emergency replacement?
Much cheaper. Working from a key that already exists is quick, while starting with nothing means reading the car and building a key from scratch, usually at a bad hour.
Do you come to my house to make a spare?
Yes. We come to your home, your office or your parking bay anywhere in Port Elizabeth and Gqeberha, since the only thing we need there is the car.
Can you make a spare for a push start car?
Yes. Proximity keys take longer than ordinary keys and a few makes hold a waiting period, but we make them at your car.
I bought a used car with one key. What should I do?
Get a second one made, and ask us to clear the car's memory at the same time so any keys the previous owner kept stop working.
How long does a spare take?
Ordinary chip keys and remotes are usually done within the hour. Push start keys take longer depending on the make.
Where should I keep the spare?
Somewhere separate from your main key, like a drawer at home or with a family member. A spare kept on the same ring disappears at the same time as the original.
